Brandneu und extra für diesen Anlass zusammengestellt ist das Quintett des hochkarätigen Essener Bassisten und Komponisten Alex Morsey. Regelmäßige Stadtgarten-BesucherInnen kennen die fünf Beteiligten u.a. aus dem „Fuchsthone Orchestra“, wo sie mit ihren Improvisationen immer wieder für besondere explosive musikalische Highlights sorgen. Ein Schwerpunkt des Konzerts wird demnach auch die Improvisation sein, mit viel Platz für lange Bögen und Entwicklung von faszinierenden Klangtexturen; die Palette reicht von leisen, zerbrechlichen kleinen Fragmenten bis hin zum brachialen Free-Jazz-Rock-Experimental-Brett. Quasi als Gegenpol dazu gibt's ein paar neue Kompositionen von Alex Morsey zu hören, die traditionellere Elemente aufgreifen und auf eigene Art neu zusammensetzen, mit Texten irgendwo zwischen Küchenphilosophie und Blödsinn...

Brand new and put together especially for this occasion is the quintet of the top-class Essen bassist and composer Alex Morsey. Regular visitors to the Stadtgarten will know the five musicians from the “Fuchsthone Orchestra,” among others, where their improvisations repeatedly provide special explosive musical highlights. One focus of the concert will therefore be improvisation, with plenty of room for long arcs and the development of fascinating sound textures; the palette ranges from quiet, fragile little fragments to brutal free jazz rock experimental rock. As a counterpoint to this, there will be a few new compositions by Alex Morsey, which take up more traditional elements and reassemble them in their own way, with lyrics somewhere between kitchen philosophy and nonsense...
