Bei „Great Spotted Woodpecker“ geht es um Lust an Bewegung: körperlich, musikalisch, emotional. Tanzen, Singen, Musik dürfen hier zusammengehören, werden neu erforscht, kombiniert, ausgelotet, vom Kopf auf die Füße gestellt, und zwar ganz wörtlich auf die „percussive feet“ von Steptänzerin Ulrike Neth - weit jenseits von Fred-Astaire-Reminiszenzen -, unterstützt durch den tiefen Groove von Ulla Oster am Bass und die federnd-bewegliche Stimme von Anne Hartkamp.
Frisch ist das, unerwartet, mal ergreifend, mal ernst, mal lustig. Neue Kompositionen, auch umgekrempelte bekannte Stücke, Texte oder keine, Interaktion und Improvisation verleihen dem Schauen und Hören ganz erstaunliche Leichtigkeit, Farbigkeit, Flügel.

“Great Spotted Woodpecker” is about the joy of movement: physical, musical, emotional. Dancing, singing, music are allowed to come together here, are explored anew, combined, sounded out, turned upside down, literally onto the “percussive feet” of tap dancer Ulrike Neth – far beyond Fred Astaire reminiscences – supported by the deep groove of Ulla Oster on bass and the springy, agile voice of Anne Hartkamp.
It's fresh, unexpected, sometimes moving, sometimes serious, sometimes funny. New compositions, familiar pieces turned upside down, lyrics or no lyrics, interaction and improvisation lend the viewing and listening experience an astonishing lightness, colorfulness, wings.
