PERCUSSION – das Trio um Pianist und Komponist Felix Hauptmann – steht für eine intensive musikalische Zusammenarbeit, die sich durch eine unverwechselbare Klangsprache und ein außergewöhnlich kommunikatives Zusammenspiel auszeichnet. Auf Grundlage komplexer rhythmischer Strukturen und improvisatorischer Zellen erschaffen Hauptmann, Bassist Roger Kintopf und Schlagzeuger Leif Berger atmosphärisch dichte Soundscapes, die ihrem Publikum einen frischen Zugang zu zeitgenössischer Improvisation öffnen.
Seit seiner Gründung im Jahr 2020 hat das Ensemble drei Alben bei Boomslang Records veröffentlicht; das nächste Album erscheint im April 2026 bei Unit Records. Internationale Einladungen führten PERCUSSION u.a. zur Cologne Jazzweek, zum Bezau Beatz Festival, zum DurchBruch Festival Stuttgart, nach Lissabon (Antena 2 Live Radio Broadcast) sowie auf zahlreiche Bühnen in Deutschland. 2023 wurde das Trio in die Liste der „artists to watch“ aufgenommen. Das Concerto Magazine lobt das „hochkonzentrierte und organisch pulsierende Kompositionsdestillat“, während freiStil Magazine die „Klasse“ der Musik hervorhebt.

PERCUSSION – the trio led by pianist and composer Felix Hauptmann – stands for intense musical collaboration characterised by an unmistakable sound language and exceptionally communicative interplay. Based on complex rhythmic structures and improvisational cells, Hauptmann, bassist Roger Kintopf and drummer Leif Berger create atmospherically dense soundscapes that open up a fresh approach to contemporary improvisation for their audience.
Since its founding in 2020, the ensemble has released three albums on Boomslang Records; the next album will be released in April 2026 on Unit Records. International invitations have taken PERCUSSION to Cologne Jazzweek, the Bezau Beatz Festival, the DurchBruch Festival Stuttgart, Lisbon (Antena 2 Live Radio Broadcast) and numerous stages in Germany, among others. In 2023, the trio was included in the list of ‘artists to watch’.
