Das Quartett „Essence of Duality" überschreitet die Grenzen zwischen Jazz und klassischer indischer Musik und stellt ästhetische Verbindungen zwischen beiden her. Inspiriert von der Sitar als Hauptinstrument erforscht Hindol Deb einen neuen Kompositionsstil, der die Balance der beiden Genres auf Augenhöhe hält. Clemens Orth, ein Jazzpianist mit New Yorker Jazzhintergrund und auch Arrangeur, färbt die Kompositionen mit interessanten Harmonien. Jens Düppe am Schlagzeug und Christian Ramond am Kontrabass sorgen für eine starke rhythmische Stabilität, die einen komplexen Austausch ermöglicht.
Die Kompositionen weisen polyrhythmische Strukturen und diverse Modi auf und verwenden die Sprache des Jazz in der Instrumentierung, Harmonisierung und Improvisation.

The quartet "Essence of Duality" crosses boundaries between jazz and classical Indian music and creates aesthetic connections between these two. Inspired by the sitar as the main instrument, Hindol Deb explores a new style of composition that balances the two genres. Clemens Orth, a jazz pianist with a New York jazz background and also an arranger, colours the compositions with interesting harmonies. Jens Düppe on drums and Christian Ramond on double bass provide a strong rhythmic stability that enables a complex exchange.The compositions feature polyrhythmic structures and diverse modes and use the language of jazz in instrumentation, harmonisation and improvisation.
